Yemeni Ambassador Discusses Enhancing Bilateral Relations with Head of Foreign Affairs Committee

The Ambassador of Yemen to Japan, Adel bin Ali Alsunaini , discussed today with Member of the House of Representatives and Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, His Excellency Takaji Ki, ways to enhance bilateral relations and the latest developments in the situation in Yemen.

Ambassador Alsunaini expressed the Yemeni government’s appreciation for Japan’s steadfast supportive positions toward the Presidential Leadership Council, the government, Yemen’s unity, stability, and territorial integrity. He reviewed the developments in the political, economic, and humanitarian situations in Yemen, and emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination in the field of maritime security amid the threats targeting international navigation and supply chains in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Bab al-Mandab.

He affirmed that the security of these maritime passages represents a shared international responsibility, expressing Yemen’s aspiration for Japan to join the multinational defensive maritime coalition, as this would strengthen the protection of international navigation, global trade, and energy supplies.

For his part, His Excellency Takaji renewed Japan’s firm supportive positions toward Yemen’s unity, stability, and territorial integrity, as well as support for the Yemeni government and people, the continued push for peace-making efforts, and the enhancement of bilateral cooperation to contribute to achieving security and stability in Yemen and the region.
