Japanese Delegation’s Visit to Aden Strengthens Yemeni–Japanese Partnership
The Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen to Japan, Adel bin Ali Alsunaini, affirmed that the visit of the Japanese delegation, headed by Ambassador Yoichi Nakashima and the Head of the Yemen Office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), to the interim capital, Aden, from 21 to 24 June 2026, represents an important step toward strengthening the Yemeni–Japanese partnership and supporting Yemen’s recovery, reconstruction, and sustainable development efforts.
Ambassador Alsunaini stated that the visit comes within the framework of advancing the distinguished bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and reflects the Japanese Government’s continued commitment to supporting Yemen across various development and humanitarian sectors, as well as its efforts to promote recovery. This commitment was demonstrated through a series of high-level meetings with senior government officials, ministries, and public service institutions, in addition to field visits to several strategic projects, most notably the restoration of the Port of Aden, the rehabilitation of technical education and vocational training centers, road infrastructure projects, and initiatives supporting the education and health sectors, as well as the rehabilitation of public infrastructure and government institutions.
The Ambassador also highlighted the workshop held on drawing upon Japan’s experience in supporting recovery and reconstruction plans, emphasizing its role in facilitating the transfer of Japanese expertise in planning, development, and institution-building.
Ambassador Alsunaini expressed Yemen’s deep appreciation and gratitude to the friendly Government of Japan for its steadfast commitment to strengthening bilateral partnership and its continued support for Yemen. He stressed that the visit reflects the depth of the longstanding historical ties between the two countries and their mutual determination to expand cooperation and partnership across all fields in a manner that contributes to achieving stability, sustainable development, and shared prosperity.
